David committed adultery with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah. When Bathsheba became pregnant, David killed Uriah to cover his illicit deeds. He then married Bathsheba, who gave birth to a son. That child died at a young age. In God’s mercy, David and Bathsheba had another son named Solomon.
